As I type I have the most wonderful little girl in the whole world sleeping on my chest. Nate has been so good about posting pictures with cute little captions, but I thought it was time to fill everyone in on how we are all doing.
Needless to say the last three weeks have been full of firsts for us as a family. Some have been really fun and some, not so fun. . but all of them have been amazing. I would like to say that Nate and I feel so blessed to have a three week old who is already sleeping through the night (sort of). She goes down about 10:30pm and we usually don't hear from her until 4:00am (okay, so that's not so fun), but we change her, feed her and put her back down and she sleeps until about 8:00am. This I can handle.
A lot of people ask me what I think the coolest thing about being a mom is and I have a hundred things that go through my mind. But what I wish they would ask is what the coolest thing about being a family is. I love being a mom and I never knew it was possible to love someone so much as I love Addy, but more than that I love being a family. I see my husband with my daughter and I am so humbled at the blessings the Lord has given me. He has always been my partner, my best friend, my biggest fan. . . but now he is Addy's Daddy and he is wonderful at it. It is the most beautiful thing to me see him love on her and see her respond to him. God has chosen us, Nate and I together, to raise Addyson to love Him and honor Him with her life. To me that is the most amazing thing about being a mom.

Melissa, it is so amazing to see you at this new stage of life. You look beautiful on the couch with your little girl. You have been always so good with words and though I am not a mommy, what you said was so well put. I can't wait to see the new Roskam family. How precious!
